UNLEASHED: The Art of Dog Photography

Class Description

UNLEASHED is an immersive, hands-on exploration of dog photography designed to build technical skills and confidence behind the camera. Joan Walker will guide attendees through photographing dogs in the studio and on location, exploring lighting, posing, expression and action. Attendees will work with a variety of dogs and learn practical techniques for creating compelling portraits regardless of a pet’s personality, energy level or level of training. The class will also move beyond capture into post-production, demonstrating how images are refined, composited and transformed into finished artwork.

Joan Walker

For Joan Walker, photographing dogs brings together a lifetime of photography and a deep understanding of canine behavior. With more than 30 years of professional experience, she combines technical expertise, creative vision and extensive hands-on experience with dogs in every session and every class.

Joan holds the degrees of Master Photographer, Master Artist and Photographic Craftsman and is a Certified Professional Photographer. She has been named an FPP Top 10 Photographer six times, represented Team USA in the World Photographic Cup twice and earned both the Imaging Excellence Award and ASP Service Award Medallions.

Through The PAWtographers®, Joan creates distinctive dog portraiture throughout Florida. As an instructor, she believes understanding the dog on the other side of the lens is every bit as important as understanding lighting, posing and the camera.
