Most photographers are still running a session-based business, even when they don’t realize it — book the time, take the pictures, hope for a sale. This class exists to break that cycle. Over five days, Gregory and Lesa Daniel will show you how to stop selling appointments and start selling commissioned art — work your clients want, priced the way it deserves to be priced.

You don’t need a studio. You don’t need a luxury clientele. You need a different starting point — one where the right clients session begins as a commission, not a gamble. Whether you work from a home studio, a leased space, or entirely on location, the shift Gregory and Lesa teach has nothing to do with square footage and everything to do with how you position your work, what you offer, and who you invite in.

At the center of the week is a dual-path business architecture. A speculation line stays open for clients who simply want a taste of Gregory Daniel Portrait — a lower-commitment entry point that lets new clients experience the work before they invest further. Alongside it runs the commission path: a guided process that identifies the right clients and walks them through designing and selling their personalized art — pieces created for their beautiful homes — before the camera ever comes out. You’ll learn how to build both paths into your own business, and how to move the right clients from one to the other.

Gregory will walk you through the identity shift at the center of it all: trading “I take pictures” for “I create art for people’s homes.” You’ll leave with language and a framework for sifting the clients who want your work from the ones who are just comparison shopping — and you’ll see it in action through Gregory’s live demonstration of his acrylics and oils embellishment process, a technique that turns a finished portrait into an original work of art and a real revenue driver in his own business.

Lesa owns the other half of the equation: the sale itself. Her strength is building genuine relationships that lead families toward multiple wall portraits — not through pressure, but through warmth and a process that makes clients feel understood. Her approach consistently produces higher sales averages without ever feeling like a pitch, and she’ll teach you how to bring that same warmth into your own consultations, on both the speculation and commission paths.

By the end of the week, you won’t just have new sales scripts — you’ll have a new identity for your business, built around meaningful art, clients who value what you create, and a sales process that feels as good as the work itself.

Gregory Daniel, Hon. M. Photog., Cr., CPP, F-ASP, FDPE, FED

Lesa Daniel, Cr.

Titusville, FL, USA

Gregory and Lesa Daniel are a nationally recognized husband-and-wife team whose portrait work — and the business behind it — has become a benchmark for what’s possible in modern portrait photography.

Gregory has spent decades helping photographers move beyond the commodity trap, building a body of work and a teaching philosophy centered on one idea: photographers who think like commissioned artists, not service providers, build businesses that are both creatively fulfilling and financially sustainable. He holds the Master of Photography and Craftsman degrees from PPA, the prestigious Fellowship of the American Society of Photographers (F-ASP), and was named Florida’s Top Photographer of the Year in 2022. He serves as Chair of the PPA Ethics Committee, was inducted into the Cameracraftsmen of America — one of the most selective organizations in professional photography — and is a proud founding member of the International Society of Portrait Artists and a Past President of Professional Photographers of America.

Lesa brings a rare gift to the teaching floor: the ability to demystify the sale. Her approach to client relationships, wall portrait consultations, and closing is built on genuine connection rather than technique — and her results speak for themselves.

Together, Gregory and Lesa operate their portrait gallery in Titusville, Florida, living out the very model they teach every day. What makes this class different isn’t just what Gregory and Lesa know — it’s that they’re still doing it. Every strategy, framework, and conversation comes from a business that is active, evolving, and producing results right now.
